LEVEL 1 INTENSIVES

Weekly classes bore you? Want to make fast progress? Want to get Level 1 done in time to catch up with the Sunday Level 2 class starting on the 19th? If this is you then you have the chance to take all five hours of Level 1 in one day! Take your pick between the next two Saturdays and let's get your Tango buzz on.

Each of the next two Saturdays will consist of 2.5 hours of instruction in the morning, an extended lunch break, followed by another 2.5 hours of instruction in the afternoon. Cost is $50 or half-price for post-secondary students. Coupons can also be used. Take your pick between the days, but please email to register ASAP, as space is limited to a maximum of 6 students per day!

Well, the consensus is in and we've decided to cancel Fusion Friday at Passion & Performance tonight, due to the lingering snow and the frozen condition of roads at night. We will resume next week, January 27th, as usual.

Tango Fusion in support of the UVic Tango Fusion Club is pleased to offer neo-tango on campus at Vertigo. The schedule is still rather sparse, but it's a start!

UVIC TANGO CLUB DROP-IN BEGINNER WORKSHOP AND PRACTICE

Please note, the UVic drop-in lessons are geared to complete beginners. They are primarily intended as an introduction for first timers, and are an ideal place to bring your friends who want to try tango! This does mean, however, that the lessons will never progress much beyond the extreme basics. Those who want to progress are strongly encouraged to take the full Level 1 series, either in a 5 week format or in one of the intensive workshops that will be offered from time to time. Club members get half-price student discounts for all Tango Fusion classes, regardless of the venue.

Due to a bad case of holiday bronchitis the Friday, January 6th Neo-Tango milonga at Passion & Performance dance studio will unfortunately have to be CANCELLED. :( Sorry for the inconvenience.

The new 2012 season of Fusion Fridays at Passion & Performance will therefore kick-off on Friday, January 13th. Let's hope Friday, January 13th, 2012 brings health and luck!! :D Full details are under the 'Events' tab.

Holiday Level 2 Intensive this Weekend - Register Now!

I will be hosting a special holiday Level 2 intensive class for those who have done Level 1 or have done basic Argentine Tango elsewhere.

The intensive will consist of an entire 5 hour level over back-to-back days, split 2.5 hours each day. This will get you primed and ready for the Level 3/4 weekly Sunday class stream starting on January 15th. Here are the specifics:

Cost is standard level pricing:

Holiday Hiatus for Fusion Fridays Neo-Tango Milonga & Workshop

Holiday and exams have arrived! With several key individuals out of tango action we have decided to begin our holiday hiatus of Fusion Fridays a couple weeks early. There will be no Friday neo-tango milongas or workshops for the remainder of December, and we will resume fresh in the new year starting January 6th! Please mark your calendars and have a very happy holiday season!

Holiday Workshops & Classes

Want to take dance classes but commitment isn't your thing? Have a busy or shifting schedule that interferes with regular weekly classes? Try an entire level in our one- or two-day intensive workshops!

Starting over the 2011 holidays Tango Fusion will be offering intensive workshops that tackle an entire 5-hour level in either a single day, or split over back-to-back days. The single-day workshop will consist of 2.5 hours in the morning, followed by an extended lunch break and the remaining 2.5 hours in the afternoon. The two-day version can be split over a weekend or over two weeknights, with 2.5 hours each day. Both versions will include practice time before and after the instruction periods.

All intensive workshops will be small-group lessons held at the Oaklands studio, with a maximum enrollment of six students per class. Price will be the same as regular group lessons: $50/person and a half-price discount for post-secondary students. (Coupon holders can apply their group lessons to the workshops.) This format allows for rapid advancement, nearly private lesson instruction and maximum scheduling flexibility.

Scheduling is based on demand. Once we have enough interest to run your level we will post the schedule and open registration. If this format sounds right for you please contact us to add your name to the waiting list!

TANGO FUSION FRIDAYS RETURN!

Tango Fusion is very pleased to announce that we will be teaming up with the fab folks at Passion & Performance dance studio to offer Victoria's only dedicated weekly Neo Tango milonga!

Starting November 4th, 2011, Tango Fusion will be hosting a weekly Friday night milonga. Dancing will start at 9:00 PM, preceded by a drop-in all-levels hour long workshop from 8:00-9:00. The music at this event will be 100% non-stop Neo Tango, pumping out tunes from your fav electric tango artists such as Gotan Project, Bajofondo Tango Club, Otros Aires and others. Also expect to shake things up a little with the odd track from non-tango artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Shakira, Marilyn Manson or Depeche Mode!

Welcome to our blog!

Beginner Tango Fusion level 1 class starts Sunday Sept. 25th, and there is still space so please email if you want to come!

Beginner (Level 1) Tango Fusion Group Lessons:

Sundays, 6 - 7 PM
5 Weeks starting Sept. 25th
Venue: Oaklands Studio--Contact for Details
$25 for students/$50 for non-students.

This class is intended for complete beginners. No partner required. The emphasis will be on learning the basic language of leading and following in Argentine Tango, with attention given to frame, connection, the "basic 8," pivoting and ochos. You should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are NOT grippy. Please don't wear runners. Women are encouraged to wear heels, but it is not necessary.

There is still space in this class. To register please send me an email that includes: the name, email, phone number and lead/follow intentions for each person who wishes to register. Women traditionally follow, and guys traditionally lead, but there is nothing about Tango Fusion that is traditional, so take your choice. Payment is at the door, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early

For those who are beyond Level 1 we will be offering higher level small group classes for up to 6 students at a time. Because the numbers are small this allows for quick learning and individual attention, as well as a great deal of flexibility for booking times. Current higher level classes include:

Tango Fusion Level 2:

Tuesdays 8:30 - 9:30
5 weeks starting Sept. 20th.

$25 for students/$50 for non-students.

This class focuses on introducing grapevine, molinette, ganchos and role reversal. Maximum 6 students, pre-registration required. To register please email me the name, email, and phone number of those who want to take the class. Payment when you arrive to the first class. To take this class you must have done some basic Argentine tango in the past, or have my permission.

This class is now FULL but I am taking a wait list for anyone interested in starting another level 2 class at 7:15 on Tuesdays. Once we have enough students registered we will start the class. Please email if you would like to be on the wait list for this class. I can also set up additional classes at any level for small group or private lessons. It's easy, just contact me and we can discuss options.
